What should the quote separate?
Request the confirmed diagnosis and the following cost lines or clear inclusions:
- The covered exchanger and any other parts.
- The labor needed for the repair.
- Diagnostic, shipping, or processing charges, if proposed.
- Required additional work, with the reason it is needed.
- Manufacturer credits and the remaining total you would pay.
Ask whether the warranty claim is approved or still being checked. A quote that assumes approval is different from a confirmed claim. If another component is excluded, ask for the finding that makes its replacement necessary.
Check for separate labor or enhanced coverage
An installer agreement, optional service coverage, or manufacturer program may differ from the base parts warranty. Carrier's legacy exchanger program, for eligible equipment, describes specified parts and a credit toward limited repair labor. Its model and date conditions are essential. Do not assume that program applies because someone called the furnace “a Carrier.” Carrier legacy furnace program.
We recommend comparing the total uncovered repair expense with the complete replacement price once the diagnosis is established. Include what each choice would fix, what would remain old, and what coverage applies afterward. A low part price alone does not settle the decision. A large labor quote alone does not prove replacement is necessary.
Keep any shutdown instruction in effect while the claim and work are arranged. Warranty administration does not clear condemned equipment for use.
Your next step is to request the certificate, claim status, and itemized total together. That lets you distinguish an excluded charge from a charge that should already be covered, and decide with the full price in view.
