Compare the same work

List the equipment covered, number of visits, visit checklist, and anything charged separately. Furnace, AC, and water-heater care should not be assumed to share one checklist. Ask whether filters, deeper cleaning, diagnostics, and repairs are included or separately authorized.

Carrier's maintenance guidance provides an example of professional furnace checks, including operation and component inspections. Use an applicable checklist as a comparison aid, not as proof of a particular company's membership inclusions. Carrier example furnace-care scope.

A cheaper plan that omits work you want may not be cheaper after extras. A more expensive plan can be reasonable if it includes work you need and avoids separate charges. Ask for a written total rather than filling those gaps with assumptions.

Read the benefits and limits

Check renewal price, billing frequency, minimum term, cancellation process, refund treatment, and whether unused visits expire. Ask whether the plan transfers if you move or replace equipment. If automatic renewal applies, record when and how you can stop it.

For 'priority service,' ask what priority means, what hours apply, and whether any response time is guaranteed in writing. Priority is not a confirmed appointment. Ask about diagnostic charges and after-hours charges even if the plan advertises a discount.

Separate manufacturer warranty requirements from membership marketing. Ask for the actual equipment warranty's care requirements. A membership itself does not establish warranty eligibility, and a plan does not guarantee that equipment will never fail.

Choose a manageable care plan

The best fit may be individual visits if you want flexibility or rarely use the extra benefits. A membership may suit you if its scope is clear, scheduling is helpful, and its cost works for the care you already intend to buy.

Your next step is to request the full agreement and a like-for-like annual comparison.
